Campgrounds and Organized Camps

The Putnam County Health Department permits and conducts inspections of campgrounds and organized camps in accordance with the West Virginia Code of State Rules §64-18, General Sanitation Rule.

Any person that owns a campground or organized camp that is new, being renovated, or has a change of ownership must complete an application to operate and submit it to the Health Department.

Once the application is approved, contact the Health Department to schedule an inspection with an environmental health specialist. Your campground or organized camp will be inspected to ensure it meets the General Sanitation Rules and that it can be operated in a safe and sanitary manner.

Campgrounds and Organized Camps that have food service or a pool, hot tub, or a bathing beach must fill out separate plan review applications for those items.
