The Putnam County Health Department permits and inspects hotels and motels for compliance with West Virginia Code of State Rules §64-18, General Sanitation Rule. The General Sanitation Rules establish the minimum public health sanitation requirements for the facilities.
All hotels and motels that are new, being renovated, or have a change of ownership must complete a plan review and application process. If this applies to you, please contact the Health Department for further instruction on submitting plans.
Once plans are approved, complete and submit an application to operate and contact the Health Department to schedule an inspection with an Environmental Health Specialist.
Hotels and Motels that will have food service and/or a pool or hot tub must fill out separate plan review applications for those items.
