
Putnam County Health Department Offering Back-to-School Vaccination Clinics
The Putnam County Health Department (PCHD) is helping families prepare for the new school year with dedicated back-to-school vaccination clinics in August. While appointments are available during regular business hours, these special clinic days offer added convenience for parents and guardians.
Back-to-School Vaccination Clinic Dates & Times:
- Monday, August 18 | 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 19 | 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Friday, August 22 | 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Monday, August 25 | 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 26 | 8:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 27 | 8:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

“Vaccinations are one of the most important steps you can take to keep your child healthy and ready for school,” said PCHD Health Officer Dr. Samia Turner. “We encourage parents to make an appointment early to avoid last-minute rushes.”
West Virginia law requires all children entering school for the first time in grades K–12 to show proof of immunization against diphtheria, pertussis, tetanus, polio, measles, mumps, rubella, varicella, and hepatitis B, unless medically exempt. The meningococcal vaccine is required for students entering 7th and 12th grades. To view detailed requirements, click here.
