Child Care

All child care centers must also be licensed by the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources, Bureau for Children and Families.

Child care centers that are new, being renovated, or have a change of ownership must also complete a plan review and application process with the Health Department. This starts with completing and submitting a plan review application, available for download here.

Upon approval of the plans, centers will then need to apply for a permit to operate from the Health Department and schedule an inspection with one of our environmental specialists. Inspections can be scheduled by calling 304.757.2541

Child Care Centers that will have food service or an on-site swimming pool must complete separate plan review applications for those items. See our Food Establishment page and Recreational Water Facility page for more information.
