Putnam County has an abundance of parks, trails and other recreational activities for community members to enjoy the great outdoors, get active and spend time with family and friends. Consider taking your family to any of these great locations in our area.

Hurricane & Teays Valley

Hurricane is home to many parks in our area. The Valley Park Playground, Hurricane City Park, which houses Sprayground, the City of Hurricane Bridge Park and Waves of Fun are all great places to get outside and enjoy the outdoors with your friends and family.

  • Features: 50 acres of land, athletic facilities, space for arts and entertainment and pickleball courts

Meek Mountain Trails is a trail system with 20+ miles of trails in the heart of Hurricane. These trails were designed to be accessible for all ages, and to promote physical wellness. All trails are designed for two-way traffic and bike riders have the right-of-way on the trails. Pets are allowed but need to be kept on a leash. There are several different trails to choose from – everyone, from beginners to experts, will have a trail that suits them.

Valley Park Playground – Hurricane, WV

Eleanor

Eleanor has three great outdoor locations for children and families to get active and spend quality time together – Eleanor Park & Fair Grounds, Eleanor Pool and Eleanor Town Park.

Eleanor Town Park on Roosevelt Street – Eleanor, WV

Winfield

Winfield’s first city park and boat ramp offers the community a place to enjoy various outdoor activities.

  • Features: Two boat play structures, picnic shelter, fenced in play area, basketball court and a canoe/kayak/paddleboard launch
  • Activities: Jungle gym, canoe, kayak, paddleboard, and basketball
